Limburgse Singer-songwriter met pakkende melodieën en krachtige teksten. Van teder tot confronterend.
Het genre van Ron Buitenhuis is het best te omschrijven als COTTAGE MUSIC: sfeervolle liedjes – in het Engels, in het Nederlands en ook zijn eigen Limburgse dialect. Van die liedjes waar vrienden naar luisteren in de sfeervolle omgeving van een buitenhuis. Vaak met een boodschap of een verrassende overweging. Altijd met teksten die het hart raken.
Zoals het prijswinnende ‘Ein Huipke Miens’ (Een hoopje Mens), over de enorme impact die de ziekte van Alzheimer heeft. Award: Best Songtext
Of het protestlied ‘We Believe (Neda’s Song)’ over de 27-jarige Neda, de jonge vrouw die in Teheran werd doodgeschoten door sluipschutters tijdens de demonstaties voor meer vrijheid en democratie. Een lied dat via digitale sluipwegen ook Iran werd binnengesmokkeld en de mensenrechtenbeweging ter plekke het gevoel gaf dat de rest van de wereld hen niet vergeten was. Een treffende tekst, een goede beat en een refrein dat eindigt in een gevoel van solidariteit (Brabants Dagblad).
Neda died with her eyes open, don’t let us live with our eyes closed, schreef een Iraanse bij de clip op Youtube.
Ron Buitenhuis wordt al meer dan dertig jaar merkbaar geïnspireerd door Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell en Stef Bos. In 2004 mocht hij de 70-ste verjaardag van Cohen vieren in New York.
In 2007 verscheen de dialect-cd ‘Veur JM&K’ waarvan enkele nummers door Radio2 werden opgepikt. De provinciale omroep L1 draait er nog steeds met regelmaat nummers van.
Nu is de Engelstalige cd met de titel: ‘Paradise of the Mind’. Deze bevat een afwisseling van mooie troubadourliedjes, tedere ballades en meerdere stevige uptempo nummers, allen in de beste singer-songwritertraditie.
Voor 2011 staan een Nederlandstalige mini-cd en een nieuwe Engelstalige cd in de planning..

The genre of Ron Buitenhuis is best described as COTTAGE MUSIC: atmospheric songs – in English, Dutch ans his home spoken Limburg Dialect. Tender songs for friends, to be listen in the harmonious surroundings of a country house. Often with a message, or an unexpected view. Always with lyrics that touch the heart.
As the award-winning ‘Ein Huipke Miens (A pile of Man), about the enormous impact that Alzheimer’s has. Award: Best Song Text 2007
Also the protest song “We Believe (Neda’s Song)”. Dedicated to the 27-year-old Neda, the young woman in Tehran who was shot by snipers during the demonstrations for more freedom and democracy. A song that was smuggled into Iran by digital sliproads. A song that gave the human rights movement in and outside Iran the trust that the western world had not forgotten them. ‘A striking text, a good beat and a chorus that ends in a feeling of solidarity’ (Brabants Dagblad).

For over thirty years Ron Buitenhuis felt inspired by Leonard Cohen, James Taylor, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell and Stef Bos. In 2004, he was at the 70th birthday celebration of Cohen in New York.
In 2007 appeared the dialect CD ‘Veur JM&K’, and some songs were picked up by the populair Dutch Radio2. The provincial broadcaster L1 is still regular playing songs.
Now there is a new English cd: ‘Paradise of the Mind’ which contains a variety of beautiful troubadour songs, tender ballads and more uptempo numbers, all in the best singer-songwriter tradition.
For 2011 there will be a mini-cd in Dutch and a new cd in English…
